Resumo: This paper aims to present the concepts related to the five senses of 5S, highlighting its characteristics, as well to analyze the applications of this quality tool by students of the Production Engineering course in different environments. For this, it was done a review of the literature, listing some terms related to the subject of this paper, as well as an evaluation of the information available in a database maintained by an engineering professor. The data refers to projects developed by students of discipline “Productive Systems”. Analyzing the database, it was identified 11 applications. Of these, 55% were applied in companies. It was also observed, applications in different places, such as houses and educational institution, not only in manufacturing environments. Among the results realized with the application of the tool in these contexts are: discarding of unnecessary items, organization and cleaning of the environment, time reduction, space rationalization, improvement of productivity, motivation, as well as health, hygiene and safety results.

Para isso, realizou-se uma revisão da literatura, pontuando alguns termos correlatos ao tema, bem como uma avaliação das informações disponibilizadas em um banco de dados mantido por uma docente do curso de engenharia. Os dados referem-se a projetos desenvolvidos por discentes lotados na disciplina de Sistemas Produtivos. Analisando-se o banco de dados, identificou-se 11 aplicações. Destas, 55% foram realizadas em empresas. Observou-se também, aplicações em lugares distintos ao ambiente de manufatura, como por exemplo: casas e instituição de ensino.
