Resumo: The América Supermarket is a small retail company located in Aracaju / SE. Its growth occurred through the experience of the owner, and no formal planning was used. The present work had as objective to develop the strategic planning of the company, providing to the owner a powerful tool of management and decision making. The elaboration of this was done through the collection of information about the operations and future prospects of the supermarket, obtained through interviews with the owner. The procedure used in the descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, was that of a case study following the theoretical model of the four phases proposed by Oliveira (2011). It assisted in the construction of objectives, strategies, goals and action plans. As for its implementation, control and evaluation were the responsibility of the owner. Thus, the formulation of this formal planning has brought to the company a better perception of its current state and the recognition of the importance of having this tool as an instrument to achieve its objectives effectively.

Seu crescimento ocorreu por meio da experiência do proprietário, não sendo utilizado nenhum planejamento formal. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver o planejamento estratégico da empresa, propiciando ao proprietário uma poderosa ferramenta de gestão e tomada de decisões. A elaboração do mesmo se deu por meio da coleta de informações sobre as operações e as perspectivas futuras do supermercado, obtidas por meio de entrevistas realizadas com o proprietário. O procedimento utilizado na pesquisa do tipo descritiva, de abordagem qualitativa, foi o de estudo de caso seguindo o modelo teórico das quatro fases proposto por Oliveira (2011), que auxiliou na construção dos objetivos, estratégias, metas e planos de ação. Quanto à sua implementação, o controle e avaliação ficaram sob a responsabilidade do proprietário.
