In a national overview, Brazil has been among the countries with highest number of traffic accidents, along with the last decade's economic boost, which has also increased the number of motor vehicles. The following research's goal is to investigate the reasons of traffic accidents in the region known as "great Aracaju" during the period from 2007 to 2016. The identification of the reasons which make federal highways so dangerous, meet the searching for understanding why so significant mortality data about this area. Concerning to urban mobility, there is a need of identifying the characteristics of pedestrians and drivers in relation to the accidents occurred on BR 101 and 235. This work has been developed by the helping of PRF (Policies Rodoviária Federal) open data, and through this data, the cities of Aracaju, São Cristóvão and Nossa Senhora do Socorro were studied. The data were tabulated and refined, and all the results were presented as graphics and charts. It was made a qualitative research in order to raise data about morbidity and mortality themes and its relation to the victims If traffic accidents in these three cities. A number of 7055 people were analyzed, showing different kinds of involvement with traffic accidents, and It was evidenced that most of the victims are from the city of Nossa Senhora do Socorro. The most common cause for accidents pointed by drivers was lack of appropriate attention while driving. It is also worth highlighting the different forms of collision in the surveyed cities, making this research a high level one, concerning to the reasons of accidents in public roads.
