According to the new perspectives approached in History, this work aims to analyze the condition of women in art of the Renaissance period, specifically in the 15th and 16th centuries, and is located in the Social History of Art. Therefore, the methodology followed consisted in the review of the bibliography, firstly related to the historical context, with its social and cultural implications, and later, about the presence of women in the imagetic art of this period. Finally, a discussion was carried out on the relationship between the context and the role of women in the flourishing of the European art in the quattrocento and cinquecento. Among the main references, we can mention BURKE (2008), KING (2008) and HARRIS and NOCHLIN (1976). The conclusion is that the condition of women in the art of the 15th and 16th centuries was not restricted to the role of spectators, but they were also artists, some reaching great relevance in their own time.
