The information literacy refers to the learning process needed to develop the ability to seek and use information. The implementation of Information Literacy Programs (ILP) in Basic Education requires identification of learning content more relevant IL, as well as understanding the structure of the school curriculum. To this end, the article presents a review covering the history of the emergence of IL, some assumptions and learning content. It then presents the main features of some models of curriculum design. The more traditional focus on the disciplines, knowledge areas and common core, and innovative models focus on the learner, curriculum integration, humanistic vision and curriculum development process. Additionally, it presents the current curriculum in public schools in Brazil. Concludes from the review that it is possible to search the major curriculum models in Brazil and the possibilities for making effective learning of the content of IL. Finally, it emphasizes the need to invest in researches that relate IL and the curriculum.
