RESUMO: No processo de aquisição de uma língua estrangeira, o aprendiz encontra sons diferentes daqueles de sua língua materna. A não percepção dessas diferenças pode interferir na pronúncia do falante, o que pode resultar em problemas de inteligibilidade frustrantes para o aprendiz. No caso dos falantes brasileiros de inglês, aponta-se a dificuldade na produção de verbos regulares no passado, com a possível inserção de vogais epentéticas. Com base nesse cenário, a presente pesquisa busca investigar a percepção das diferentes pronúncias do morfema -ed nos verbos do passado regular da língua inglesa por aprendizes brasileiros. Para tanto, são aplicados testes de discriminação e identificação a alunos de um curso de Letras. Os resultados mostram que os alunos obtiveram, no total, uma média de 72,4% de acertos. É possível, ainda, identificar uma maior facilidade por parte dos alunos com relação à tarefa de discriminação do que com relação às tarefas de identificação. Por fim, percebe-se uma dificuldade maior na identificação do morfema /d/, seguido por /Id/ e /t/. A partir dos resultados encontrados, busca-se levantar algumas reflexões acerca da importância de testes e treinamentos de percepção, bem como do ensino explícito de pronúncia nas aulas de língua inglesa. Morfema -ed.   ABSTRACT: In the process of learning a foreign language, the speaker comes across different sounds from the ones they have in their first language. The non-perception of these differences may interfere in their pronunciation, which may lead to intelligibility problems that can make the speaker frustrated. When it comes to Brazilian English speakers, it is believed they have difficulties to produce regular verbs in the past – to which they tend to add an epenthetic vowel. Based on this scenario, this research aims at investigating the perception of the different -ed morphemes in regular English verbs in the past by Brazilian speakers. In order to do so, discrimination and identification tasks were performed by language students. The results show that the participants had, altogether, an average of 72,4% accuracy. It is also possible to point out that the discrimination task seemed to be easier for these students than the identification task. Finally, it can be noticed that the morpheme /d/ is harder for the participants to perceive, followed by /Id/ and /t/. Considering these results, this article considers the importance of tests and perceptual training as well as explicit pronunciation teaching in English classes. KEYWORDS: English. Perception.
