Resumo: | The informational context has been changing quickly and information professionals must acquire new skills to keep up with the times. The objective of this paper is to analyze the profile and training needs of information professionals from Lusophone African Countries (PALOP). We present African informational context; PALOP general context, from data of the Human Development Report (2013), human development index (HDI), economy, education, electricity, communication and technology; formal and non-formal training in Information Science in Lusophone countries, PALOP, Brazil and Portugal and models of information literacy in university context and data collection of information professionals skills and training needs. We present partial results that demonstrate limitations and barriers to the performance of information professionals, mainly the deficiency of training and the use of technologies. |

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o perfil e as necessidades de formação dos profissionais de informação dos Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa (PALOP), através do contexto informacional africano e, em especial, dos PALOP, a partir de dados do Relatório de Desenvolvimento Humano (2013), índice de desenvolvimento humano (IDH), economia, educação, energia elétrica, comunicação e tecnologias; da formação formal e não-formal em Ciência de Informação nos países lusófonos, PALOP, Brasil e Portugal; dos modelos de competências em informação em contexto universitário e dos dados dos profissionais de informação sobre competências e necessidades de formação.
