The problem of this research was based on studying the information behavior in organizations of the search point of view and the use of information for document management, specifically in the document review process. The objective of this study is to analyze the information behavior theories focusing on the models of search and use of information of Wilson and Choo to understand how managers make decisions regarding the establishment of discretion to preservation and disposal of documents, in archival appraisal process. Its is a qualitative research. The methodological procedure used was the bibliographical research to analyze and reflect on the phenomena related to the theme. It is observed that the information behavior occurs in organizations, at all levels, and that influences the search of information for decision-making in specialized activities such as documentary evaluation. As a result, the models studied were applied to the evaluation process, demonstrating the importance of understanding the steps involved in the search, acquisition and use of specialized information for decision making.
