Resumo: This special edition of Fórum Linguístico aims to discuss how the historical-cultural perspective, with respect to Vygotskian thinking, can be relevant for professionals working with school education in language, whether as an object of teaching or as an object of research, at different levels of schooling. The relevance of this discussion stems from the current moment in history in which the epistemic approach is called into question, raising complex queries about the role of school education.

La relevancia de esta discusión se deriva del momento presente de la historia en la que el enfoque epistémico se pone en duda, elevando problemáticas complejas sobre el papel de la educación escolar.A edição temática da Fórum Linguístico propõe-se a discutir o modo como a perspectiva histórico-cultural, no que respeita sobremodo ao pensamento vygotskiano, pode se mostrar relevante para profissionais ocupados com educação escolar em linguagem, quer seja como objeto de ensino, quer seja como objeto de pesquisa, em diferentes níveis de escolaridade.
