Diachronic aspects of the argument structure of sentences with “trata-se de”

Resumo: | This paper reports on the results of a diachronic corpus-based research into the different usages of trata-se de in Portuguese, focusing on changes in its argument structure. Through a data analysis based on the Multisystemic Approach to Language, the research supports the hypothesis that the specialization of usages of the non-full verb tratar in this structure (impersonal presentational sentences and identificational sentences with external argument) is associated with the concealment of thematic functions produced by the clitic se in several types of sentences throughout the history of Portuguese, a phenomenon known as dethematization. The data used in the research was obtained from the Corpus of Portuguese and was located with its search engine. |

A través de un análisis teóricamente basado en el Abordaje Multisistémico de la Lengua, la investigación apoya la hipótesis de que la especialización de los usos no plenos del verbo tratar en esta estructura (usos presentativos impersonales e identificativos con argumento externo) está asociada a la desaparición de funciones temáticas producidas por el clítico ‘se’ en los diferentes tipos de sentencia a lo largo de la historia del portugués, un fenómeno conocido como detematización. Los datos analizados provienen del Corpus del Portugués y han sido localizados por medio de su buscador.Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa diacrônica, baseada em corpus, sobre os diferentes usos de trata-se de no português, com o fim de investigar as mudanças em sua estrutura argumental. A partir de uma análise dos dados que se orienta teoricamente pela Abordagem Multissistêmica da Língua (CASTILHO, 2010), a pesquisa sustenta a hipótese de que a especialização dos usos não plenos do verbo tratar nessa estrutura (usos apresentacionais impessoais e identificacionais com argumento externo) está associada ao escamoteamento de funções temáticas produzido pelo clítico se nos diferentes tipos de sentença ao longo da história do português, fenômeno conhecido como detematização.
