Physical education in federal institutes: “what” and “why” to teach

Resumo: The objective was to research how Physical Education is configured in the context of Integrated High School, regarding its pedagogical purpose and the curricular knowledge that are developed in teaching practices. This is a qualitative research that had the collaboration of six Physical Education teachers, who work on different campuses of Federal Institutes located in the state of Santa Catarina. Physical education in integrated high schoolhas an intimate relationship with knowledge about the body. This knowledge can provide students with a critical analysis of the mode of production in the context of employment and aspects related to worker health. It is the responsibility of Physical Education in these Federal Institutes to fulfill their function as a curricular component of this type of teaching, which can contribute to the necessary training for life, the exercise of citizenship and the understanding of the cultural context in which the subjects are part.

Esta es una investigación cualitativa que contó con la colaboración de seis maestros de Educación Física, que trabajan en diferentes campus de Institutos Federales ubicados en el estado de Santa Catarina. La educación física en la escuela secundaria integrada tiene una relación íntima con el conocimiento del cuerpo. Este conocimiento puede proporcionar a los estudiantes un análisis crítico del modo de producción en el contexto del empleo y los aspectos relacionados con la salud de los trabajadores. Es responsabilidad de la Educación Física en estos Institutos Federales cumplir con su función como componente curricular de este tipo de enseñanza, que puede contribuir a la capacitación necesaria para la vida, el ejercicio de la ciudadanía y la comprensión del contexto cultural enel que forman parte las asignaturas.Objetivou-se pesquisar como a Educação Física se configura no âmbito do Ensino Médio Integrado, quanto a sua finalidade pedagógica e os conhecimentos curriculares que são desenvolvidos nas práticas de ensino. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo que contou com a colaboração de seis professores de Educação Física, que atuam em diferentes campide Institutos Federais localizados no estado de Santa Catarina. A Educação Física no ensino médio integrado tem uma íntima relação com os conhecimentos sobre o corpo. Esses conhecimentos podem fornecer aos estudantes a análise crítica sobre o modo de produção no âmbito do emprego e os aspectos relacionados à saúde do trabalhador. Compete a Educação Física nesses Institutos Federais, cumprir sua função de componente curricular dessa modalidade de ensino, a qual, pode contribuir com a formação necessária para a vida, ao exercício da cidadania e à compreensão do contexto cultural em que os sujeitos fazem parte.
