Resumo: The article presents an excerpt from a doctoral research, carried out from a narrative investigation with nine teachers of Early Childhood Education, which aimed to identify threads that weave pedagogical tasks, relating such threads to the concept of artisan teaching. Complexity theory was constituted as an epistemological choice, making it possible to discuss the concept of artisanal teaching as overcoming technical, monotonous and routine mechanization and to suggest possibilities of conceiving teaching with young children as an artisanal activity, articulated in thinking, feeling and evaluating these processes. The study points to the discussion about the teaching profession, about the technique as an ethical and aesthetic practice in the specificity of teaching in Early Childhood Education. Therefore, it is possible to highlight the threads of the pedagogical record and documentation as marks of an artisanal doing, which is sewn from the involvement, engagement and dialogue of the material conscience with the artisanal teaching.
