Digital Generation: a reflection on the relations of the "digital youth" and the fields of communication and culture

This article deals with a bibliographical survey about the concept of the field of communication and culture, based on the concepts of Bourdieu and on the characteristics of postmodernism in the cultural field of production, diffusion and criticism. It will also be presented the definition of Digital Generation, to describe how the young person, who grew up with the advent of technology and the internet, sees the field of culture and how the field relations with this audience. Using Don Tapscott's theories as a basis for analysis, we will bring official data on the diffusion of digitization in the country and present the results of a verification questionnaire applied to members of the so-called digital youth.
