Resumo: The proposal of this article is to reflect on the Brechtian heritage in contemporary cinema, through the analysis of the film Dogville (2003), by the Danish filmmaker Lars Von Trier. Dogville (2003), inserted in the postulates of the cinematographic movement Dogma 95, is an example of artistic hybridity or a "fusion cinema", as the director prefers. Von Trier's cinema denies Hollywood, just as the theater of Brecht denies the Aristotelian catharsis, being marked, decidedly, as proposals that have in common, among other characteristics, the anti-illusion.
