Resumo: A Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS) is an important strategy for reducing road transport sector impacts on sustainable development. The reason is that the traffic incidents are events that generate non-recurring congestion that cause reduced road capacity, increased travel time and air pollutants emission and greenhouse gases, reduced life quality for the urban population, etc. Thus, this study seeks to highlight, through a literature review and development of a logical flowchart, how an effective TIMS can contribute to the achievement of many Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and its targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The results show that a good TIMS is capable of positively impacting 9 SDG and 25 targets of the 2030 Agenda, thus demonstrating that governments must invest in actions and public policies that can improve SGIT.
