Resumo: | The study aimed to identify causes of absenteeism in referral consultations for medical specialties. A case study was conducted with subjects assisted by the Family Health Strategy of a municipality in southern Brazil, who in 2013 did not attend scheduled appointments. The referral documentation issued by the Basic Health Unit and the Appointment Center and interviews with users were sources of evidence. The data found were categorized and analyzed using the discursive textual analysis technique, where the outlined categories were: Waiting time for consultation; Notice of the date and time of the consultation; Reason for not attending. It was concluded that the documents to be sent to the Marking Center require careful attention. The monitoring of Community Health Agents to users before and after consultation is an action to reduce absenteeism. The solution requires user awareness. |
