Resumo: This paper intends to analyze Brazilian musician Lenine’s song called “De onde vem a canção”, as a cultural and aesthetic product that is born from the consonance between verbal and musical discourse, considering the lyrics in its interface with melody and piece’s musical instance constitutive elements. On this way, we defend, with Luiz Tatit (1995), that the songwriter is an artist species that balances melody into text and text into melody, seeking, in our case, manners of answering a founding and distressing question, such as “who we are?” and “where we came from?”
