Critical analysis of discourses on the production of argumentative texts in Portuguese Language textbooks

Resumo: This paper has the goal of analyzing the discourses about the production of argumentative texts in a series of Portuguse Language textbooks from Middle School. The adopted theoretical reference is based on Critical Discourse Analysis, in SytemicFunctional Grammar and on Theory of Argumentation perspectives. The results point to the predominance of an Argumentation discourse as a new rhetoric, since the teaching material mainly explores the context of text production and reception.
