Resumo: | The teacher training in environmental education in a critical perspective is one of the essential instruments for the realization of the environmental dimension in school. An investigation based on a qualitative methodological approach, assessing the training of teachers in environmental education and how is their performance in the classroom with regard to treatment with environmental issues was held. The research aimed to identify the difficulties faced by a group of teachers who work from 6th to 9th grade in a public school to enable the environmental dimension in the school routine. A theoretical framework on the environment and the environmental impacts caused by human action, as well as national documents that determine the inclusion of environmental considerations in all levels and types of formal education was used. The results show that most teachers recently completed the undergraduate program, which did not include the environmental dimension. Much of the teachers did not participate in continuing education courses in environmental education, and believes that the lack of qualified human resources in this area is one of the factors that hinders their integration in school. |

Foi realizada uma investigação tendo como base uma abordagem metodológica qualitativa, procurando analisar a formação dos professores em Educação Ambiental e como se dá a sua atuação na sala de aula no que se refere ao tratamento com as questões ambientais. A pesquisa teve como objetivo identificar as dificuldades enfrentadas por um grupo de professores que atuam do 6º ao 9º anos em uma escola pública estadual, para viabilizar a dimensão ambiental no cotidiano escolar. Foi utilizado um referencial teórico sobre o meio ambiente e os impactos ambientais causados pela ação humana, bem com documentos nacionais que determinam a inclusão da dimensão ambiental em todos os níveis e modalidades do ensino formal. Os resultados revelam que a maioria dos professores concluiu recentemente o curso de graduação, o qual não contemplou a dimensão ambiental.
