Support Needs of Families of Children and Adolescents with Disabilities at a Specialized Rehabilitation Center in Alagoas

Resumo: It becomes imperative for services that assist the family of people with disabilities to understand their family support needs. The objective of this work was to analyze the need of support directed to families of children and adolescents with disabilities in a specialized rehabilitation center in thest ate of Alagoas. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and comparative study, with a quantitative approach. Forty user families were recruited, aged between 0 and 17 years, 11 months and 29 days. For data collection, the Family Needs Assessment Scale Protocol (ANF) was used. The data were tabulated in an electronic spreadsheet and analyzed statistically using Software R version 3.6.1. Among the participating family members, it was observed that the figure of the mother in care was recurrent, with 92.5% being primary caregivers. Most families needed intermediate support in the performance of basic tasks. Regarding the type of support that would be most useful for families, the results mentioned informational support as the one that would best meet the family's needs. Regarding the classification by factor of the ANF, it was found that the largest number of items indicating high need is found among the variables family life, free time and acquisition and management of products and services, as well as very high need in the area of ​​education . The data demonstrate the need to propose strategies aimed at developing support networks to support the families of children and adolescents with disabilities, in solving their needs.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar las necesidades de apoyo dirigidas a familias de niños y adolescentes con discapacidad en un centro de rehabilitación especializado en el estado de Alagoas. Se trata de un estudio transversal, descriptivo y comparativo, con enfoque cuantitativo. Se reclutaron cuarenta familias usuarias, con edades comprendidas entre 0 y 17 años, 11 meses y 29 días. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó el Protocolo de Escala de Evaluación de Necesidades Familiares (ANF). Los datos se tabularon en una hoja de cálculo electrónica y se analizaron estadísticamente con el software R versión 3.6.1. Entre los familiares participantes, se observó que la figura de la madre a cargo fue recurrente, siendo el 92,5% cuidadoras primarias. La mayoría de las familias necesitaban un apoyo intermedio en el desempeño de tareas básicas. En cuanto al tipo de apoyo que sería de mayor utilidad para las familias, los resultados mencionaron el apoyo informativo como el que mejor respondería a las necesidades de la familia. En cuanto a la clasificación por factores de la ANF, se encontró que el mayor número de ítems indicativos de alta necesidad se encuentra entre las variables vida familiar, tiempo libre y adquisición y gestión de productos y servicios, así como muy alta necesidad en el área de educación. . Los datos demuestran la necesidad de proponer estrategias encaminadas a desarrollar redes de apoyo para apoyar a las familias de niños, niñas y adolescentes con discapacidad, en la solución de sus necesidades.Torna-se imperativo para os serviços que prestam assistência a família de pessoas com deficiência compreender as suas necessidades de apoio familiar.
