Resumo: This study analyzes initial teacher training in Chemistry of Federal Higher Education Institutions in Ceará in relation to Special Education. This is a documentary research study, based on the analysis of the Pedagogical Projects from the 10 programs offered by the aforementioned institutions. These programs do not offer obligatory courses related to Special Education, although 5 offer optional courses on Inclusive Education, which has a lower course load than the curricular components from other areas. The reality investigated here shows that these Chemistry Teaching Degree programs have not followed the growing number of enrollments by students from Special Education in general Basic Education schools, demanding changes in the teaching degree curricula in order to prepare Chemistry teachers to promote an inclusive education. As a transversal modality of the Brazilian educational system since 1996, Special Education has had little visibility in the programs investigated, the graduates of which may have difficulties in including the aforementioned public in Chemistry classes.

As a transversal modality of the Brazilian educational system since 1996, Special Education has had little visibility in the programs investigated, the graduates of which may have difficulties in including the aforementioned public in Chemistry classes.
