Resumo: | In this paper we aim to analyze the presence and importance of the soundscape in three works of the Brazilian writer Charles Kiefer. The term soundscape has its origin in the study of acoustics and it is associated to all the sounds presented in a determined place or ambient. For instance, in the fictional text, it is related to all sounds presented in the narrative. O Pêndulo do Relógio (1984), Valsa para Bruno Stein (1986) and A Face do Abismo (1988) form the corpus of analysis that has as its main theoretical sources the works of the Canadian composer and musicologist Murray Schafer and of the musician, teacher and writer Gérson Werlang. This essay was divided in four chapters. Chapters one, two and three are dedicated to the analysis of the soundscape in the chosen works of Charles Kiefer. The analysis follows the same order of publication of the books. In the first one, the sonic aspects are evidenced and also the way the sounds influence the acts of the protagonist. The second chapter stands out that the novel has the same structure of the waltz. Chapter three covers more than eighty years of sonic aspects of the community where the story takes place. The fourth and last chapter draws a panorama of sonic representations that appear as repetitions in the three novels, elucidating the particularities in each of them, in the way that they are represented in the texts. |

Termo proveniente dos estudos da acústica, a paisagem sonora está associada a todos os sons presentes em dado ambiente. Em extensão, no texto literário ficcional ela está associada aos sons que compõe a atmosfera nas narrativas. O Pêndulo do Relógio (1984), Valsa para Bruno Stein (1986) e A Face do Abismo (1988) formam o corpus de análise que tem como principal alicerce teórico os textos do compositor, educador e musicologista Murray Schafer, e sua transposição para a literatura a partir de estudos de Gérson Werlang (2011). O trabalho foi dividido em quatro capítulos, cujos três primeiros são dedicados para análise específica de cada um dos livros. A análise segue a mesma ordem da publicação: no primeiro, são evidenciados os aspectos sonoros e a maneira como a sonoridade impacta nas ações do protagonista; o segundo parte do princípio de que o livro está estruturado no mesmo compasso da valsa e a partir desse pressuposto percorre os vestígios desta e de outras artes no texto, especialmente através da atmosfera musical; o terceiro capítulo elabora um breve percurso das mudanças sonoras ocorridas em mais de oitenta anos no local em que a história se desenvolve.
