Resumo: | This paper deals with word hypersegmentations (such as "de mais" [too much], "brincava-mos” [we used to play]) from a linguistic perspective which conceives them as students’ hypotheses about word boundaries, based on relations between speech and writing. We have analyzed texts written by Junior High School (EF II) students at a public school in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The main goal is to present a characterization of regularities related to morphosyntactic structures underlying prosodic configurations of spoken utterances, which, in turn, motivate hypersegmentation occurrences in EF II texts. The hypothesis guiding this characterization is that certain hypersegmentations are better explained if not only metrical characteristics configured in the word domain are considered, but also, and more importantly, prosodic characteristics of the utterances. The developed analysis allows us to state that word hypersegmentations in EF II texts occur especially when morphosyntactic characteristics of words are relevant for establishing prosodic configurations between (parts of) utterances. |
