Resumo: This article seeks to present the contributions of Paulo Freire in the dimensions of teaching, research andextension. It is the result of a biographic qualitative research. The data collection instrument was the stateof the art, through the mapping of dissertations an theses from the digital archives from six universitiesin Goiás and Sao Paulo published between 2003 and. Also, an analysis of three books by Paulo Freire wasmade. The empirical part was carried out with an interview with the former president of the Pro-rectorsForum for Extension in the Brazilian Public Universities, Profª. Drª Sandra de Deus, who socializes in theinterview her appreciation for the Freirian theory. The research made possible the understanding thatFreire’s contributions are not restricted to the literacy of young people and adults, but to the teaching/learning process so that teaching is indissociated from universiy research and extension.

Trata-se dos resultados de uma pesquisa qualitativa de caráter bibliográfico. Como instrumento de coleta de dados se realizou o Estado da Arte, por meio do mapeamento de dissertações e teses dos acervos digitais de seis universidades de Goiás e São Paulo, publicadas entre 2003 e 2013. Também foram analisados três livros do autor. A parte empírica foi realizada por meio de entrevista com a então presidente do Fórum de Pró-reitores de Extensão das Universidades Públicas Brasileiras, Profª Drª Sandra de Deus, que socializa na entrevista seu apreço pela teoria freiriana.
