Several studies, like Corbucci (2007) and Glewwe et al. (2011), have looked at the variables that affect the students’ academic performance and point out that there are many variables, related to the institution, to the teachers or to the student himself. This way, this study had as objective to verify if factors like: family income, paid activity, parents level of education, form of entrance to the University and the second-degree graduation (public or private) explain the performance of students of Accounting Sciences in the ENADE (2012). For this research was selected a sample of 44.370 students of Accounting Sciences who underwent ENADE (2012). At first, a descriptive analysis of the profile of these students was carried out to outline their main characteristics. Regression was then used, via bootstrap, to determine the degree of relationship between the studied variables and the academic performance of students of the Accounting Sciences course in the ENADE (2012). The results pointed out that the significant variables that can help to trace trends in relation to academic performance were: family income, mother’s level of education and the way of joining the University.
