Resumo: The technical translation procedures (PTT) represent the strategies adopted in solving the problems encountered in the translation process. In order to verify the occurrence of such procedures, this study analyzed the occurrence of the technical procedures described by Barbosa (1990), present in the translations of Archibaldo Figueira (1996) and Petrucia Finkler (2014) from Agatha Christie’s novel, Murder on the Orient Express. The aim was to identify the PTT used in the translations of all the dialogues present in the first chapter of the work, and to quantify them by occurrence of use and general frequency (%), in the light of the technical procedures described by Barbosa (1990). All the dialogues of the original work and of its two translations were examined, whose segments of analysis or translation units (UT) were categorized considering the 13 PTT reported by Barbosa. In conclusion, nine PTTs were identified, and a broad similarity was found at the translation strategies of the two translators.

No intuito de se verificar a ocorrência de tais procedimentos, esta monografia analisou a ocorrência dos procedimentos técnicos descritos por Barbosa (1990) presentes nas traduções de Archibaldo Figueira, de 1996, e de Petrucia Finkler, de 2014 da obra Murder on the Orient Express, de Agatha Christie (1991). O objetivo principal foi, à luz dos procedimentos técnicos descritos por Barbosa (1990), identificar os PTT utilizados nas traduções de cada diálogo presente no primeiro capítulo da obra e quantificá-los em porcentagem (%) por ocorrência de uso e frequência geral (%). Para tal, foi feito o levantamento de todos os diálogos da obra original e de suas duas traduções, cujos segmentos de análise ou unidades de tradução (UT) foram categorizados considerando os treze PTT apontados por Barbosa.
