The present work analyzes the use of literature in the teaching of Chemistry through the books of the collection of Harry Potter (Rowling), as an instrument facilitating the learning of this Science. The research was oriented through a research and action approach, because it was carried out through a subproject of the Federal University of Uberlândia, next to a School of the state network of Uberlândia. The subjects of the research were students of the 1st year of High School Vespertino, where they were asked about the scientific knowledge existing in the books of the saga Harry Potter. By means of this previous questionnaire, the scientific concepts pointed out by them were worked out with the students, in order to amplify and demystify the pre existing knowledge of the latter. It is concluded that literature has a great influence on student learning, especially the collection of Harry Potter, which is a material rich in chemical knowledge, specific to the History of Science. The material chosen helped build concepts and acquire chemical knowledge, optimizing Chemistry Teaching.
