Resumo: This paper aims to explore the translation of orality marks within literary works through the translation with commentary of short stories from Portuguese to English. To carry out the research, we used five short stories in Portuguese language that were extracted from Romances Impossíveis by Nick Farewell. Literary translation demands strategies to achieve the given objective, which is, in case of this research, the creation of verisimilar dialogues. Orality marks are numerous and have varied classifications, but this paper focuses on Paulo Henriques Britto's proposal (2012) that was used to recreate orality marks in the short stories. We noticed that the proposed categorization by Britto (2012) was useful for classification and recreation of orality in the short stories that were analyzed and translated in this work.
