Transgênicos: as relações de poder na biotecnologia de organismos geneticamente modificados e sua utilização para fins produtivos

We present here the results of our research on transgenics: the power relations in biotechnology of genetically modified organisms and their use for productive purposes. The study was based on a bibliographical research that recruited the main works of the philosopher Vandana Shiva in which he denounces the dominant technological models in agriculture and the scientific, ideological discourse in favor of humanity behind this new technology of transgenics and the main works by Michel Foucault who through his philosophy brought reflections on the model of discipline and control the body as a health policy that transforms the concept of freedom into a concept of slavery, from this, understand biopolitics, biopower, control of bodies and how capitalism becomes through health (food) a control of the body. Foucault does not directly address this problem, but he works on the issues involved in looking at this problem in which we can understand the conception of power in Michel Foucault and the power relations in biotechnology of genetically modified organisms and their use for productive purposes - we have brought some commentators among them, the journalist Marie-Monique, the economist José Maria Alves da Silva of the University of Viçosa (MG) and Angela Cordeiro - their denunciations and reflections bring up essential problems that the philosophical community needs to reflect from the philosophical point of view what are the ethical, political and social implications of this new technology.
