Sua madeira ? resistente a pragas e doen?as, sendo bastante utilizada na produ??o de moir?es e estacas, servindo como fonte alternativa de renda para os propriet?rios rurais de suas regi?es de ocorr?ncia. Por esse motivo, tem ocorrido aumento na explora??o dessa esp?cie e, consequentemente, na demanda de sementes para produ??o de mudas e na sele??o de gen?tipos com melhor desempenho em rela??o ao crescimento, desenvolvimento e adaptabilidade. O objetivo geral desse trabalho foi iniciar os estudos de caracteriza??o fenot?pica e gen?tica de matrizes selecionadas de uma popula??o de candeia. Para isto, no segundo cap?tulo avaliou-se a germina??o das sementes dessas matrizes em ambiente de laborat?rio, em dois anos de instala??o do experimento. Conclui-se que as matrizes avaliadas no segundo ano obtiveram percentuais de germina??o maiores do que as matrizes avaliadas no primeiro ano. No terceiro cap?tulo foi avaliada a germina??o das sementes em condi??es de viveiro, concluindo que a matriz 192 obteve melhor desempenho do que as demais em todas as caracter?sticas avaliadas. No quarto cap?tulo avaliou-se a variabilidade gen?tica para os caracteres de altura e di?metro de mudas em fase juvenil em condi??es de viveiro e concluiu-se que as matrizes apresentaram alta variabilidade gen?tica, favorecendo a sele??o. O quinto cap?tulo analisou-se a diversidade gen?tica de dez matrizes selecionadas, utilizando marcadores moleculares microssat?lites. Its wood is resistant to pests and diseases, being widely used in the production of pickets and stakes, serving as an alternative source of income for the rural owners of their regions. For this reason, there has been an increase in the exploitation of this species and, consequently, in seed demand for seedling production and selection of genotypes with better performance in relation to growth, development and adaptability. The general objective of this work was to initiate the phenotypic and genetic characterization studies of selected matrices from a candeia population. For this, the second chapter evaluated the seed germination of these matrices in laboratory environment, in two years of installation of the experiment. It was concluded that the matrices evaluated in the second year had higher germination percentages than the matrices evaluated in the first year. In the third chapter, seed germination was evaluated under nursery conditions, concluding that the matrix 192 had better performance than the others in all evaluated characteristics. The fourth chapter evaluated the genetic variability for the height and diameter characters of seedlings in juvenile phase under nursery conditions and concluded that the matrices presented high genetic variability, favoring the selection. The fifth chapter analyzed the genetic diversity of ten selected matrices using microsatellite molecular markers. In the end, the matrices were grouped in similarity groups and it was concluded that the obtained data can be used in the candeia genetic breeding program, for the establishment and evaluation of progeny tests for production or conservation purposes.porUFVJMA concess?o da licen?a deste item refere-se ao ?
