Resumo: | Two trials were conducted to evaluate the effect of phytase inclusion in broiler nutrient metabolism and performance. On the performance trial 1250 birds, Ross, 1 to 40 days of age, were randomly distributed among 5 treatments with 10 replicates with 25 birds per replicate. On the metabolism trial, 350 birds were randomly distributed in 5 treatments, 10 replicates, 5 birds per replicate. The treatments were a positive control (The Brazilian Tables recommendations); a negative Control for 250U/kg of phytase (C-N1); a negative control for 500U/kg of phytase (C-N2); C-N1 + 250U/kg of phytase; C-N2 + 500U/kg of phytase. The diets were formulated to achieve the nutritional levels in each treatment. It was considered the nutritional requirements reported by Rostagno et al. 2005 and the nutritional matrix of the enzyme when supplemented with 250 U/kg and 500 U/kg of phytase. Weight gain (WG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion (FC) and index of productive efficiency (IPE), were evaluated on the performance trial. It was observed that, in the period of 1 to 40 days of age, birds receiving the negative controls had lower WG, lower FI and higher FC (trat.1 versus trat.2 and trat.3). The inclusion of phytase (250U/kg and 500U/kg) to negative controls returned the performance results to the positive control levels (treats.4 and 5 versus trats 2 and 3). Chromic oxide, fecal marker, was used in the metabolism trial. Total excreta and ileum collection were performed. From 16 to 23 days of age, the birds were lodged in batteries, allowing adapting for 3 days. During five days, total collection of excreta was performed. At 23 days of age, all birds were killed to collect the digesta from the terminal ileum. The values of the ileal digestibility coefficient of crude protein (CP) and phosphorus (P), apparent metabolizable energy corrected to nitrogen, and excreted phosphorus were determined. The values of metabolizable energy determined for treatment diets were decreased and similar to calculated values. The phytase inclusion of 250U and 500U improved, in average, the energy values of the diets in 30 and 57 kcal/kg, respectively. The ileal digestibility coefficients of CP and P were improved. The inclusion of 500U of Phytase resulted in an increased digestibility coefficient. Phytase inclusion resulted in an increased retained P amount (% and mg/bird/day). It can be concluded that the inclusion of 500 U/kg of diet of Phytase provides a better bird performance and nutrient digestibility. |
