Resumo: | The objective of the article is to analyze the democratization of basic education in the city of São Paulo from 2013 to 2016, in the Workers' Party administration. The methodological approach was qualitative and documental. The problem refers to the question: what are some of the progress indicators of in the democratization of basic education? Some of them were raised: valuing professionals; raising social quality through universal access and systematic work to guarantee permanence and the most diverse learning; encouraging participation and autonomy in and from schools; and effort in the formulation, approval and implementation of democratizing policies. Â El objetivo del artículo es analizar la democratización de la educación básica en la ciudad de São Paulo de 2013 a 2016, en la administración del Partido de los Trabajadores (PT). El enfoque metodológico fue cualitativo y documental. El problema era la pregunta: ¿cuáles son algunos de los indicadores de progreso en la democratización de la educación básica? Algunos de ellos fueron criados: valorando profesionales; elevar la calidad social a través del acceso universal y el trabajo sistemático para garantizar la permanencia y las experiencias de aprendizaje más diversas; alentando la participación y la autonomía en y desde las escuelas; y esfuerzo en la formulación, aprobación e implementación de políticas democratizadoras.En cette période de questionnement systématique sur les avancées et les reculs de la démocratie, tant dans le monde académique que dans la société, le but de l'article est d'analyser le processus de démocratisation de l'éducation de base dans la municipalité de São Paulo entre 2013 et 2016, sous l'administration du Parti des Travailleurs (PT). La méthodologie fut qualitative et exploratoire, basée sur des sources documentaires. La thèse défendue est que dans cette administration, le processus de démocratisation de l'éducation de base fut renforcé, les pouvoirs exécutif et législatif étant chargés de déclencher ce processus dans ce contexte.O objetivo do artigo é analisar a democratização da educação básica no município de São Paulo de 2013 a 2016, na administração do Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT). A abordagem metodológica foi qualitativa e documental. O problema se constituiu na questão: quais seriam alguns dos indicadores de avanços na democratização da educação básica?
