"Princess Mononoke" (1997): movie analysis and application in Environmental Education

Resumo: The present study aims to analyze some of the central themes in the animation film “Princess Mononoke”, such as ecology, the anthropic influence in nature, and also spirituality, as a means of introducing these concepts on a classroom to stimulate debates on environmental education. By bringing a media artifact such as the aforementioned eastern film to the school – although it is a mature and graphic choice of media, it is intended for the young audience – we look forward to create a space for expansion of ideas and to broaden cultural realities, and also allow the connection of multiple cultures, promoting a deep reflection on the impact mankind has on our environment.

Al traer al ámbito escolar un artefacto mediático de origen oriental destinado al público joven - aunque maduro en cuanto a su trama -, se pretende abrir espacio para expansión de horizontes y realidades, además de permitir la creación de puentes entre diferentes culturas, promoviendo una reflexión profunda sobre los impactos del hombre en el medio ambiente.O presente estudo busca analisar o filme de animação “Princesa Mononoke” quanto a alguns de seus temas centrais - dentre eles a ecologia, a influência antrópica na natureza e a espiritualidade - como forma de introduzir estes conceitos em sala de aula para estimular discussões e debates sobre Educação Ambiental.
