Pandemic impacts on Popular Universitary Extension: the experiences and challenges of Popular Legal Counsels

Resumo: In this article, we discuss the main impacts provoked by COVID-19 pandemic in the Popular Legal Counsel’s (AJUP) performances. As popular universitary extensions, the AJUP had their projects impacted by coronavirus’ contention measures. We used semistructured interviews with members from eleven brazilian AJUP, distributed in the country’s five regions. Highlighting the main differences between the performances of the AJUP, before and during the pandemic, we indicated what are the new challenges faced by them in eleven common bases of orientation-conformation, proposed by Assis da Costa Oliveira. Despite the challenges, the new ways of resistence and protagonism of the students indicate that their fight-for-rights project is alive and pulsating.

As AJUP, enquanto extensões universitárias, tiveram seus projetos impactados pelas medidas de contenção da infecção. Utilizamos entrevistas semiestruturadas com membros de onze AJUP do Brasil, distribuídas entre as cinco regiões do país. Através do destaque das principais diferenças entre as formas de atuações das AJUP, antes e durante a pandemia, indicamos quais são os novos desafios enfrentados por elas em onze bases comuns de orientação-formação, propostas por Assis da Costa Oliveira.
