Resumo: This text addresses Choay's propositions on authenticity, based on her writing of 1995. This article aims to point out some themes, and not exhaust them, directing them more explicitly to the disciplinary field of restoration. To do so, firstly, aspects of how authenticity was understood in the Venice Charter and the doubts it generated are addressed. Afterwards, the notions of monument and historic monument and their relations with the cultural visions of time are examined. Next, it focuses on aspects of Choay's propositions about authenticity, highlighting the need for rigorous and critical analysis to face the issues. The article also emphasizes the author's view that the memorial function, the living memory, must also be mobilized for historic monuments, in order to maintain our competence to build, to structure the landscape and to inhabit space and time. Finally, it analyzes how this discussion contributes to the current reflection on restoration.

Este artículo pretende señalar algunos temas, y no agotarlos, orientándolos más explícitamente al campo disciplinar de la restauración. Para ello, en primer lugar, se abordan aspectos de cómo se entendió el tema de la autenticidad en la Carta de Venecia y las dudas que generó. Posteriormente se examinan las nociones de monumento y monumento histórico y sus relaciones con las visiones culturales de tiempo. A continuación, se enfocan aspectos de las proposiciones de Choay sobre la autenticidad, destacando la necesidad de un análisis riguroso y crítico para enfrentar las cuestiones. Se enfatiza la visión de la autora de que la función memorial, la memoria viva, debe movilizarse también para los monumentos históricos, para no haber pérdida de la competencia para construir, para estructurar el paisaje y para habitar el espacio y el tiempo. Finalmente, analiza cómo esta discusión contribuye a la reflexión actual sobre la restauración.Este texto aborda as proposições de Choay sobre a autenticidade, a partir de seu escrito publicado em 1995. Este artigo tem por intuito pontuar alguns temas, e não os esgotar, direcionando-os mais explicitamente para o campo disciplinar do restauro. Para tanto, primeiramente, são abordados aspectos de como a autenticidade foi entendida na Carta de Veneza e as dúvidas que gerou. Depois, são examinadas as noções de monumento e monumento histórico e suas relações com as visões culturais do tempo. A seguir, centra-se sobre aspectos das proposições de Choay sobre autenticidade, evidenciando a necessidade de análise rigorosa e crítica para enfrentar as questões. Evidencia-se a visão da autora de que a função memorial, a memória viva, deve também ser mobilizada para os monumentos históricos, para que não haja perda da competência de edificar, de estruturar a paisagem e de habitar no espaço e no tempo.
