Instrumental French or learning how to read in French as a Foreign Language?

Resumo: We perceive the term "Instrumental French" to be sometimes treated as a given, referring to French as a Foreign Language (FFL) courses organized around reading, or to FFL courses for specific purposes. Doubt is not cast the nature of this nomenclature, though. However, the literature on this subject indicates a miscomprehension of the definition of this mode of foreign language teaching, its goals, the methodological practices underpinning the definition, and the place it occupies in FFL teaching. The perception of this shortcoming remits us to the context in which this methodology arose and the ever-present need for its reconfigurations.

A leitura de artigos relacionados ao tema aponta, ao contrário, para a falta de melhor definição dessa modalidade de ensino do francês língua estrangeira (FLE), de seus objetivos, das práticas metodológicas que a sustentam e do lugar em que se inscreve dentro do ensino do FLE.
