Translational aspects of phraseological units

Resumo: Observation of the language shows that speakers use not only lexical units to constitute the speech, but also more or less fixed word combinations. We call these combinations phraseological units (PUs, PU in the singular). An essential characteristic of these PUs is that the speaker perceives them as units of meaning, even though he notices the presence of several lexical units. Another feature refers to its use. A speaker who uses a PU chooses to express himself in a more motivated way than when he chooses only free lexical units. The present work aims to present translation aspects between Portuguese and French in relation to PUs.

Chamamos essas combinações de unidades fraseoógicas (Ufs, UF no singular). Uma característica essencial dessas UFs é a de que o falante as percebe como unidades de significação, mesmo que ele note a presença de várias unidades lexicais. Outra característica se refere ao seu uso. Um falante que recorre a uma UF escolhe exprimir-se de maneira mais moivada do que quando escolhe apenas unidades lexicais livres.
