Teacher training on the perspective of critical theory is the theme of this article. This is a bibliographical article, whose general objective is to promote a reflection of two trends in the area of teacher training, one focused on the labor market in the context of globalization and neoliberalism and another focused on human emancipation. In the current context, it notes that if training does not meet the labor market, it would have been pointless, however, critical training will make us question what kind of training this society wants. It concludes that the formation of teachers cannot be lightened only to attend the market interests, but must contribute to the professional formation, articulating theory and providing the diffusion of the historically produced knowledge.
