The inter-relations between ICT and Family Agriculture

Resumo: This article is a result of the research and technological extension work related to the Project entitled "The use and appropriation of ICTs by family farmers in the Vale do Caí - RS", financed by the edict of MCTI/CNPq, FAPERGS and UNISC, developed in Partnership with EMATER/ASCAR-RS, the Union of Rural Workers, the rural schools located in the Vale do Caí, the students of the Graduation Administration and Accounting Sciences courses of the Campus of Montenegro/UNISC and the doctoral students of the Postgraduate Program in Regional Development. This article refers to a literature review of the production carried out by the project team and aims to demonstrate the interrelations between the use and appropriation of ICTs and family agriculture. It was identified that only the access of the families of farmers to the new technologies and an adequate infrastructure does not guarantee, in itself, the use of the ICTs. It is concluded that the appropriation of ICT by family agriculture depends on a process of mediation and social interface between the University and society, requiring interdisciplinary work teams, resources for the extension, projects with long-term maturity, without time limits and of goals. In addition, it is emphasized that the understanding of the symbolic universe and the everyday life of the farmers must be the starting point.

In addition, it is emphasized that the understanding of the symbolic universe and the everyday life of the farmers must be the starting point.Este artículo es resultado del trabajo de investigación y extensión tecnológica referente al Proyecto denominado "El uso y la apropiación de TICs por la agricultura familiar en el Vale do Caí - RS", financiado por la convocatoria del MCTI/CNPq, por la FAPERGS y por la UNISC, desarrolado en colaboración con la EMATER/ASCAR-RS, el Sindicato de los Trabajadores Rurales, las escuelas rurales situadas en el Vale do Caí, los alumnos de los cursos de grado en Contabilidad y Administración del Campus de Montenegro/UNISC y los doctorandos del Programa de Posgrado en Desarrollo Regional. El presente artículo se refiere a una revisión bibliográfica de la producción realizada por el equipo del proyecto y tiene como objetivo demostrar las interrelaciones entre el uso y la apropiación de las TICs y la agricultura familiar. Se identificó que solamente el acceso de las familias de agricultores a las nuevas tecnologóas y una infraestructura adecuada no garantizan, por si solos, la utilización de las TICs. Se concluye que la apropiación de las TICs por la agricultura familiar depende de un proceso de mediación e interfaz social entre la Universidad y la sociedad, exigiendo equipos de trabajo interdisciplinares, recursos para la extensión, proyectos con madurez de largo plazo, sin límites de tiempo y de metas. Además, se destaca la comprensión del universo simbólico y del día a día de los agricultores debe ser el punto de partidad.Este artigo é resultado do trabalho de pesquisa e extensão tecnológica referente ao Projeto denominado "O uso e a apropriação de TICs pela agricultura familiar no Vale do Caí - RS", financiado pelo edital do MCTI/CNPq, pela FAPERGS e pela UNISC, desenvolvido em parceria com a EMATER/ASCAR-RS, o Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rurais, as escolas rurais situadas no Vale do Caí, os alunos dos cursos de graduação em Contábeis e Administração do Campus de Montenegro/UNISC e os doutorandos do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Desenvolvimento Regional. O presente artigo refere-se a uma revisão bibliográfica da produção realizada pela equipe do projeto e objetiva demonstrar as inter-relações entre o uso e a apropriação das TIC e a agricultura familiar. Identificou-se que somente o acesso das famílias de agricultores às novas tecnologias e uma infraestrutura adequada não garantem, por si só, a utilização das TIC. Conclui-se que a apropriação das TIC pela agricultura familiar depende de um processo de mediação e interface social entre a Universidade e a sociedade, exigindo equipes de trabalho interdisciplinares, recursos para a extensão, projetos com maturação de longo prazo, sem limites de tempo e de metas.
