CONCEPTIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN THE MEDIATION PROCESSES OF THE PUBLIC POLICIES IN SCHOOL

Resumo: This text analyzes the conceptions of environmental education present in processes of mediation of public policies of environmental education at school. The qualitative research that originated this article was developed from the selection of seven elementary schools in a municipality in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The schools were selected through an exploratory questionnaire on the theme to be investigated. The research procedures were: semi-structured interviews, observations and document analysis. The results showed that the processes that indicate the mediation of public policies for environmental education in the schools surveyed are predominantly permeated by a pragmatic conception of environmental education, that is, they are focused on behavior change, recycling and accountability, often failing to problematize environmental issues, to associate their causes with social issues and to envisage transformations in the structures of society.

La investigación, de naturaleza cualitativa, que originó este artículo se desarrolló a partir de la selección de siete escuelas primarias de un municipio en el interior del estado de São Paulo. Las escuelas han sido seleccionadas a causa de una información de que tenían proyectos cuyos contenidos se relacionaban con la temática ambiental. Los procedimientos de investigación fueron: entrevistas semiestructuradas, observaciones y análisis de documentos. Los resultados mostraron que los procesos que indican la mediación de las políticas públicas para la educación ambiental en las escuelas encuestadas están predominantemente impregnados por una concepción pragmática de la educación ambiental, es decir, se centran en el cambio de comportamiento, el reciclaje y la responsabilidad individual, a menudo no logrando problematizar los problemas ambientales, no asociando sus causas con cuestiones sociales y no vislumbrando transformaciones en las estructuras de la sociedad.Este texto analisa as concepções de educação ambiental presentes em processos de mediação de políticas públicas de educação ambiental na escola. A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, que deu origem a este artigo foi desenvolvida a partir de seleção de sete escolas de Ensino Fundamental I de um município do interior do estado de São Paulo. As escolas foram selecionadas devido à informação de que possuíam projetos com conteúdos relacionados com a temática ambiental. Os procedimentos de pesquisa foram: entrevistas semiestruturadas, observações e análises de documentos.
