Resumo: The field of Translation Studies (TS) began to be systematized at the end of the 1960s, after an international conference organized in Bratislava (Slovakia) by Anton Popovič, which would result in the publication of the collection The Nature of Translation: Essays on the Theory and Practice of Literary Translation. From then on, the gap between Euro-American research on the subject, which focuses much more on translation historiographies, and Slavic research, which since the post-Second World War has a much more linguistic tendency began to deepen. With an approach that mixes both aspects, Professor Laura Salmon, from the University of Genoa (Italy), seeks to emphasize in her Teoria della Traduzione the importance of linguistic research and, implicitly, of the “decolonization” of this area of knowledge, as she explains in this interview for the journal Trabalhos em Linguística Aplicada.

Da quel momento in poi, ha preso a radicalizzarsi il divario tra la ricerca euroamericana sulla traduzione, che si concentrava per i TS in modo netto sulla storiografia, e la ricerca slava che, dal secondo dopoguerra, esprimeva un notevole interesse per la linguistica e per la formalizzazione. Con un approccio che fonde entrambi gli aspetti, la Prof. Laura Salmon dell’Università di Genova (Italia), nel suo Teoria della Traduzione, sottolinea l'importanza della ricerca linguistica e, pur implicitamente, invita a una “decolonizzazione” di quest'area del sapere, condizionata dall’interesse dominante per i Cultural Studies e per la cultura occidentale. Ce lo spiega in quest’intervista per la rivista Trabalhos em Linguística Aplicada.O campo dos Translation Studies (TS) começa a ser sistematizado a partir do final dos anos 1960, após uma conferência internacional organizada em Bratislava (Eslováquia) por Anton Popovič, que resultaria na publicação da coletânea The Nature of Translation: Essays on the Theory and Practice of Literary Translation. A partir de então, começa a se aprofundar o abismo entre as pesquisas euro-americanas sobre o tema, que se voltam muito mais a historiografias da tradução, e as eslavas, que desde o pós-Segunda Guerra tinham viés muito mais linguístico.
