Mathematical modelling and texts produced in an in-service teacher education programme

Resumo: | In this paper we identified what texts – and how - of modeling are communicated in an in-service education program on mathematical modeling. Following a qualitative approach, data were collected through document analysis and observation procedures, being observation recorded by filming and field notebook. The focused group consisted of fifteen teachers of basic education participating in a course for in-service mathematics teachers. The results of this study suggest that texts may belong to the following domains: experience with modeling, modeling experience with other teachers and experience with modeling at the teachers´ the schools. |

A trajetória metodológica parte de uma abordagem qualitativa, mediante procedimentos de análise documental e observação, tendo como instrumentos de registro de observação o diário de campo e a filmagem. O grupo investigado era composto por 15 professores da Educação Básica, que participavam de um curso de extensão para a formação continuada em modelagem matemática.
