The teaching of rhetoric in three pedagogical projects of the second half of the 18th century in Rio de la Plata

Resumo: This paper aims to identify, contextualize, and analyze the teaching of the Rhetoric Course in the curricular projects in force in the captaincy later Rio de la Plata viceroyalty during the second half of the 18th Century. This research gathers material referring to the then “glottopolitical” and educational context, including the Rhetoric Course’s pedagogical and academic guidelines and the authorities’ guiding the discipline. The different projects are compared in order to highlight the continuity or rupture policies regarding the actions undertaken by the Crown, which the resolutions established the criteria for the formation of jurists, preachers and future speakers who would influence the independence of the viceroyalty.

La investigación recoge material sobre el contexto glotopolítico y educativo de la época y sobre las directrices pedagógicas y académicas a ella dirigidas. La exposición se centra en el análisis comparado del lugar asignado a su enseñanza en los planes de estudio y las autoridades adoptadas como referencia para mostrar la incidencia de la política de continuidad o los cambios operados por acción de la Corona, cuyas cédulas reales establecían los criterios para formar juristas, predicadores y futuros oradores que influirían en la independencia del virreinato.Este artigo tem como objetivo identificar, contextualizar e analisar o ensino do Curso de Retórica nos projetos curriculares em vigor na capitania, depois do vice-reinado do Rio da Prata durante a segunda metade do século XVIII. Esta pesquisa reúne material referente ao contexto então "glotopolítico" e educacional, incluindo as diretrizes pedagógicas e acadêmicas do Curso de Retórica e as autoridades que orientam a disciplina.
