The institutionalization of the Libras Letras course in Brazil: language, subjects and meanings

Resumo: This article aims to analyze, based on the History of Linguistic Ideas, from a materialist perspective, articulated with the theoretical-analytical devices of the discourse analysis proposed by Michel Pêcheux and Eni Orlandi, the process of institutionalization of the Letras-Libras undergraduate course in Brazil, thinking about how knowledge production has been developed and historically determined by material conditions that involve the political, the ideological and the symbolical concepts, in this institutionalized space. In addition to that, this article seeks to understand the place that has been designated to deaf people, in Science realm, amid affirmative policies that instrumentalize the proper relations of a social access division to the university. Based on our analysis, we could understand that, besides taking Letras-Libras course as the space for knowledge production concerning sign language, we need to think of it in its discursiveness, understanding how its materialization produces and stabilizes meaning.

Además, busca comprender qué lugar tiene sujetos sordos, en el espacio de la ciencia, en medio de políticas enunciados que instrumentalizan las relaciones propias de una división acceso a la universidad. Basado en nuestro análisis, entendemos que, además de pensar en el curso Letras-Libras como espacio de producción de conocimiento sobre la lengua de signos, tenemos que pensar en ello en su discurso, entendiendo la forma cómo su materialización produce y estabiliza significados.Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar, a partir do domínio da História das Ideias Linguísticas, sob uma perspectiva materialista, articulada com os dispositivos teórico-analíticos da análise de discurso da linha proposta por Michel Pêcheux e Eni Orlandi, o processo de institucionalização do curso de Licenciatura em LetrasLibras no Brasil, pensando como tem se dado a produção de conhecimento determinada historicamente por condições materiais que envolvem o político, o ideológico e o simbólico, nesse espaço institucionalizado. Além disso, busca-se compreender que lugar tem cabido aos sujeitos surdos, no espaço da Ciência, em meio a políticas afirmativas que instrumentalizam as relações próprias de uma divisão social do acesso à universidade.
