Resumo: The present research was carried out in two elementary and high schools, but the sample dealt with the classes of primary education with students between 9 and 18 years of age, one public, in which we denominated School X, and another called private school School Y, located in the City of Cajazeiras, state of Paraíba. The objective of the research was to diagnose the teachers' view, as well as their basic characteristics of formation and social profile and to correlate them with the factors that interfere in the process of Environmental Education (EA) in the public and private educational institution to compare the school environment of these two evaluated cases. According to the results obtained, the EA is already part of the curricular structure of the two institutions. The profile and qualification of the teachers of the two schools bring similarity. The difference between the two schools is related to physical space and financial conditions. However, it has been realized that the teachers of School X, with all the difficulties faced and the resources scarce, seem more prepared and more willing to develop the contents and the proposed activities on EE.

However, it has been realized that the teachers of School X, with all the difficulties faced and the resources scarce, seem more prepared and more willing to develop the contents and the proposed activities on EE.La presente investigación fue desarrollada en dos escuelas de enseñanza básica y secundaria, pero la muestra se trató de las clases de enseñanza fundamental con alumnos entre 9 y 18 años de edad, siendo una pública, en la que denominamos Escuela X, y otra privada denominada Escuela Y, ubicadas en la Ciudad de Cajazeiras, estado de Paraíba. El objetivo de la investigación fue diagnosticar la visión de los profesores, así como sus características básicas de formación y perfil social y las correlacionar con los factores que interfieren en el proceso de Educación Ambiental (EA) vigente en la institución de enseñanza pública y privada para comparar el ambiente escolar de estos dos casos evaluados. Conforme a los resultados obtenidos, EA ya forma parte de la estructura curricular de las dos instituciones. El perfil y la calificación de los profesores de las dos escuelas traen semejanza. La diferencia entre las dos escuelas está relacionada con el espacio físico y las condiciones financieras. Sin embargo, se percibió que los profesores de la Escuela X, con todas las dificultades enfrentadas y los recursos escasos, parecen más preparados y con mayor disposición para desarrollar los contenidos y las actividades propuestas sobre EA.A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida em duas escolas de ensino fundamental e ensino médio, porém a amostra se tratou das turmas de ensino fundamental com alunos entre 9 e 18 anos de idade, sendo uma pública, na qual denominamos de Escola X, e outra privada denominada Escola Y, localizadas na Cidade de Cajazeiras, estado da Paraíba. O objetivo da pesquisa foi diagnosticar a visão dos professores, assim como suas características básicas de formação e perfil social e as correlacionar com os fatores que interferem no processo de Educação Ambiental (EA) vigente na instituição de ensino público e privado para comparar o ambiente escolar desses dois casos avaliados. Conforme os resultados obtidos, a EA já faz parte da estrutura curricular das duas instituições. O perfil e qualificação dos professores das duas escolas trazem semelhança. A diferença entre as duas escolas está relacionada ao espaço físico e condições financeiras.
