Resumo: Objective: to report the experience of an extension action aimed at stimulating the self-care of the elderly person. Methodology: This is a study of the type experience report, with descriptive approach and qualitative nature, carried out in a community center in the municipality of Belém. The activity was performed by ligands of the League of Systematization of Nursing Care (LASAE), with about 20 elderly of both sexes. The action was divided into three moments, the first occurred from the recognition of the place of activity; the second moment occurred through a round of conversation with approaches on topics related to healthy aging, self-care, sexuality among others; the third moment occurred from an individual activity, in which the elderly were divided into pairs and was applied to massage therapy, nail care for men and hairstyle and makeup for women. Results: The university extension activity allowed the approximation of academics with the community. In addition, in the second stage, there was guidance and identification of determinants and health conditions. Subsequently, the individual activity allowed a relaxing moment for the participants, addressing themes related to mental health, self-esteem and self-care. Conclusion: The performance of the extension activity made it possible to sensitize the elderly in relation to the benefits of self-care for their well-being.

La actividad fue realizada por ligandos de la Liga de Sistematización de la Atención de Enfermería (LASAE), con cerca de 20 ancianos de ambos sexos. La acción se divide en tres momentos, el primero reconocido desde el reconocimiento del lugar de la actividad; el segundo momento se sucedió a través de una rueda de conversación con enfoques sobre temas relacionados al envejecimiento saludable, autocuidado, sexualidad entre otros; el tercer momento a partir de una actividad individual, en la que los ancianos se dividieron en parejas y se aplicó la terapia de masajes, cuidado con uñas para los hombres y peinado y maquillaje para las mujeres. Resultados: La realización de la actividad de extensión universitaria, el acercamiento de los académicos con la comunidad. Además, en la segunda etapa hubo orientación e identificación de factores determinantes y condicionantes de salud. Posteriormente, la actividad individual identificó un momento relajante para los participantes, abordaje de temas referidos a salud mental, autoestima y autocuidado. Conclusión: La realización de la actividad de extensión permite la sensibilización de los ancianos respecto a los beneficios del autocuidado para su bienestar.Objetivo: relatar a experiência da realização de uma ação de extensão voltada ao estímulo do autocuidado da pessoa idosa. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo do tipo relato de experiência, com abordagem descritiva e natureza qualitativa, realizado em um centro comunitário no município de Belém. A atividade foi executada por ligantes da Liga de Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem (LASAE), com cerca de 20 idosos de ambos os sexos. A ação foi dividida em três momentos, o primeiro ocorreu a partir do reconhecimento do local da atividade; o segundo momento se sucedeu através de uma roda de conversa com abordagens sobre temas referentes ao envelhecimento saudável, autocuidado, sexualidade entre outros; o terceiro momento ocorreu a partir de uma atividade individual, na qual os idosos foram divididos em duplas e foi aplicado a massoterapia, cuidado com unhas para os homens e penteado e maquiagem para nas mulheres. Resultados: A realização da atividade de extensão universitária permitiu a aproximação dos acadêmicos com a comunidade. Além disso, na segunda etapa houve orientação e identificação de fatores determinantes e condicionantes de saúde.
