Resumo: | This article aims to investigate the importance of student assistance policies for the permanence of students in the first year of Integrated High School (EMI) at a Federal Institute. It is a qualitative and quantitative study, and the instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire designed to carry out this study. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. It was identified that there is a contradiction about the knowledge that students have about student assistance policies and those that are developed in the institution. In addition, for students, the resources available to access student assistance information are partially satisfactory. And yet, students consider student assistance policies to be relevant to stay at the institution. Based on the aspects studied, it is concluded that student assistance policies have a positive impact on the permanence of students, not only by making financial resources available, but also by offering actions that contemplate all dimensions of the subjects, allowing them to develop fully. These policies mainly in professional education are presented as instruments for overcoming dualistic education and for the democratization of education. |

Este es un estudio cuantitativo-cualitativo, y el instrumento utilizado para la recolección de datos fue un cuestionario diseñado para este estudio. El análisis de datos se desarrolló a través de estadística descriptiva y análisis de contenido. Con el estudio se identificó que existe una contradicción en relación al conocimiento que tienen los estudiantes sobre las políticas de atención al estudiante y sobre las que se desarrollan en la institución. Además, para los estudiantes, los recursos disponibles para acceder a la información de ayuda al estudiante son parcialmente satisfactorios. Además, los estudiantes consideran las políticas de asistencia estudiantil relevantes para su permanencia en la institución. A partir de los aspectos estudiados, se concluye que las políticas de atención al estudiante inciden positivamente en la permanencia de los estudiantes, no solo al brindar recursos económicos, sino también al ofrecer acciones que atienden todas las dimensiones de las asignaturas, permitiéndoles desarrollarse integralmente. Estas políticas, principalmente en la formación profesional, se presentan como instrumentos para la superación de la educación dualista y para la democratización de la enseñanza..Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar a importância das políticas de assistência estudantil para a permanência dos estudantes do primeiro ano do Ensino Médio Integrado (EMI) de um Instituto Federal. Trata-se de um estudo quanti-qualitativo, e o instrumento utilizado para a coleta de dados foi um questionário elaborado para a realização deste estudo. A análise de dados foi desenvolvida por meio da estatística descritiva e a análise de conteúdo. Com o estudo, identificou-se que existe uma contradição em relação ao conhecimento que os alunos possuem sobre as políticas de assistência estudantil e sobre as que são desenvolvidas na instituição. Além disso, para os alunos os recursos disponibilizados para acesso as informações da assistência estudantil são parcialmente satisfatórios. E ainda, os estudantes consideram relevantes as políticas de assistência estudantil para a permanência na instituição. Partindo dos aspectos estudados, conclui-se que as políticas de assistência estudantil impactam positivamente para a permanência dos estudantes, não somente pela disponibilização de recursos financeiros, mas também por oferecer ações que contemplem todas as dimensões dos sujeitos, permitindo que possam se desenvolver plenamente.
