Resumo: Animal Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic tool that aims to promote the patient's physical and emotional health and well-being. in this intervention it is used for different demands, whether physical or mental and is indicated for any stage of life. Thus, the study aimed to understand the benefits that animals bring to human health and how they help in the therapeutic process and well-being. This is an integrative review research. Data were selected through an electronic search in the following databases: VHL, Medline, PePSIC, SciELO and PsycINFO, in addition to some specific websites and journals on Assisted Therapy with Animals from 2010 to 2021. With the results, a sample was obtained of 11 studies, and it was found that AAT and living with animals promote well-being, emotions and positive behaviors, greater adherence to treatments, encourages the practice of activities, among others. It is concluded that it is important to analyze and develop new instruments to assist in practice, monitoring and forms of use.

En esta intervención, se utiliza para diversas demandas, ya sean físicas o mentales, y está indicado para cualquier etapa de la vida. Así, el estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender los beneficios que los animales aportan a la salud humana y cómo ayudan en el proceso terapéutico y el bienestar. Esta es una investigación de revisión integradora. Los datos fueron seleccionados a través de una búsqueda electrónica en las siguientes bases de datos: BVS, Medline, PePSIC, SciELO y PsycINFO, además de algunos sitios web y revistas específicas sobre Terapia Asistida con Animales de 2010 a 2021. Con los resultados se obtuvo una muestra de 11 estudios, y se encontró que la AAT y la convivencia con animales promueven el bienestar, las emociones y comportamientos positivos, mayor adherencia a los tratamientos, incentiva la práctica de actividades, entre otros. Se concluye que es importante analizar y desarrollar nuevos instrumentos para auxiliar en la práctica, seguimiento y formas de uso.A Terapia Assistida por Animais é uma ferramenta terapêutica que visa promover a saúde e bem-estar físico e emocional do paciente. Nesta intervenção é utilizada para diversas demandas, seja esta física ou mental e é indicada para qualquer fase da vida. Deste modo, o estudo objetivou compreender os benefícios que os animais trazem para a saúde humana e como estes auxiliam no processo terapêutico e bem-estar. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de revisão integrativa. Os dados foram selecionados através de busca eletrônica nas bases de dados: BVS, Medline, PePSIC, SciELO e PsycINFO, além de alguns sites e revistas específicos sobre Terapia Assistida com Animais no período de 2010 até 2021. Com os resultados obteve-se uma amostra de 11 estudos, e constatou-se que a TAA e o convívio com animais promovem efeito de bem-estar, emoções e comportamentos positivos, maior aderência aos tratamentos, estimula a prática de atividades, entre outros.
