Resumo: | Action research is a social research modality that can collaborate with several research models. This article aims to discuss this methodological strategy and its possibilities of use as a pedagogical and scientific tool in education research. The paper analyzes the publications of the Brazilian Journal of Education, from 2016 to 2018, which use action research as a methodological procedure. The article is based on Thiollent's (2005) research-action conceptions, in addition to the contribution of Moreira (2011) and Tripp (2005) and Minayo's ideas of knowledge construction (2014). As a methodology, we used bibliographical research on the topic and documental research, through the survey of the productions in the editions of the Journal in the period under study, to identify the published works that effectively used the action research and informed this procedure. The research resulted in five productions that used the methodology in question, of a total of one hundred and forty three published articles, pointing out some difficulties of operationalization and execution of researches with this formatting. However, despite the implementation challenges, action research presents itself as a methodology with significant contributions to improve the quality of research in education. |

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo hacer una discusión acerca de esta estrategia metodológica y de sus posibilidades de utilización como instrumento pedagógico y científico en las investigaciones en educación. El trabajo analiza las publicaciones de la Revista Brasileña de Educación, en el período de 2016 a 2018, que utilizan la investigación-acción como procedimiento metodológico. El artículo se basa en las concepciones de investigación-acción de Thiollent (2005), además de la contribución de Moreira (2011) y Tripp (2005) y en las ideas de construcción del conocimiento de Minayo (2014). Como metodología, utilizamos investigación bibliográfica acerca de la temática e investigación documental, por medio del levantamiento de las producciones en las ediciones de la Revista en el período en estudio, para identificar los trabajos publicados que efectivamente utilizaron la investigación-acción e informaron ese procedimiento. La investigación encontró como resultado cinco producciones que utilizaron la metodología en cuestión, de un total de ciento cuarenta y tres artículos publicados, apuntando algunas dificultades de operacionalización y ejecución de investigaciones con ese formato. Sin embargo, a pesar de los desafíos de la ejecución, la investigación-acción se presenta como una metodología con significativas contribuciones para mejorar la calidad de las investigaciones en educación.A pesquisa-ação se coloca como modalidade de pesquisa social que pode colaborar com vários modelos de pesquisa. O presente artigo tem como objetivo fazer uma discussão a respeito desta estratégia metodológica e de suas possibilidades de utilização como instrumento pedagógico e científico nas pesquisas em educação. O trabalho analisa as publicações da Revista Brasileira de Educação, no período de 2016 a 2018, que utilizam a pesquisa-ação como procedimento metodológico. O artigo baseia-se nas concepções de pesquisa-ação de Thiollent (2005), além da contribuição de Moreira (2011) e Tripp (2005) e nas ideias de construção do conhecimento de Minayo (2014). Como metodologia, utilizamos pesquisa bibliográfica a respeito da temática e pesquisa documental, por meio do levantamento das produções nas edições da Revista no período em estudo, para identificar os trabalhos publicados que efetivamente utilizaram a pesquisa-ação e informaram esse procedimento.
