Gymnastics at the University: Performance of teachers in research, teaching, and extension in Amazonas

Resumo: | Purpose of the present study was to analyze the curricula of the professional formation in Physical Education in Amazonas and professional profile of lectures who teach gymnastic subjects. Therefore, were analyzed eight curricula of the professional formation in Physical Education of main institutions of higher education in Amazonas and the Lattes curricula of ten university lecturers who teach gymnastics in the Physical Education undergraduate courses in the second semester of 2019. From the data obtained, we verified curricular grids need updating as to the nomenclature of gymnastics, and two institutions included disciplines of gymnastics in their undergraduate curriculum. Most lecturers were female, and although everyone had a specialization, only three were in gymnastics. The same happened in the stricto-sensu graduate program in which the minority turned their studies to gymnastic content. This low production in gymnastics identified by the lack of projects and guidelines, since only two university professors have research and extension projects in the area. Finally, we hope that these data can support reflections on the performance and training of university teachers in the gym area in the State of Amazonas, in addition to assisting in future research. |

Para ello, se analizaron los planes de estudios de ocho cursos de educación física de las principales instituciones de educación universitaria del Amazonas y los currículos Lattes de diez docentes que trabajaron con disciplinas de gimnasia en el segundo semestre de 2019. Los resultados indican que los planes de estudios necesitan actualización, en relación a la nomenclatura de las modalidades gimnásticas, y dos instituciones no ofrecen disciplinas en el área de gimnasia. En cuanto a los profesores, la mayoría eran mujeres y, si bien todos tenían especialización, solo tres eran en el área de la gimnasia, así como en el programa de posgrado en stricto-senso en el que la minoría volcó sus estudios a contenidos gimnásticos. Esta baja adherencia a la producción de actividades que involucran gimnasia se identifica en la falta de proyectos y lineamientos, ya que solo dos docentes cuentan con un proyecto de investigación y extensión en el área. Finalmente, esperamos que estos datos puedan sustentar reflexiones sobre el desempeño y la formación de los docentes universitarios en el área de gimnasios en el Estado de Amazonas, además de ayudar en futuras investigaciones.O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar a grade curricular dos principais cursos de educação física do Amazonas e o perfil profissional dos docentes que ministram as disciplinas gímnicas. Para isso, foram analisadas as grades curriculares de oito cursos de educação física das principais instituições de ensino superior do Amazonas e os currículos Lattes de dez docentes que atuaram com disciplinas gímnicas no segundo semestre de 2019. Os resultados indicam que as grades curriculares precisam de atualização quanto a nomenclatura das modalidades gímnicas, e duas instituições não ofertam disciplinas na área da ginástica. Quanto aos docentes a maioria era do sexo feminino e, apesar de todos possuírem especialização, apenas três eram na área da ginástica, assim como na pós-graduação stricto-sensu em que a minoria voltou seus estudos para os conteúdos gímnicos. Essa baixa adesão a produção de atividades que envolvam a ginástica é identificada na falta de projetos e orientações, visto que apenas dois docentes possuem projetos de pesquisa e extensão na área.
